Hey everyone.


 


I was wondering if someone could please help me hack my blood?


 


Red Blood Cell Count - 5.7 (HIGH)


Hematocrit- 52.2  (HIGH)


Hemoglobin- 17.6 (HIGH)


MCV - 92


MCH- 30.9


MCHC- 33.7


RDW- 13.4


 


it would help me alot if someone can give me some good advice on how to lower these :)

    A couple things...


     


    First, you're not that far out of reference. According to WellnessFX, reference ranges are:


     


    RBC: 4.1 - 5.7 (you're not high according to WellnessFX)


    hematocrit: 36 - 51 (you're slightly high)


    hemoglobin: 12.5 - 17.1 (you're slightly high) 


     


    BUT there appears to be some wiggle room, as Wikipedia lists 18g/dL as the reference cut-off for men here


     


    Personally, I wouldn't worry about this. 


     


    But if you want to, here's a training video from WellnessFX that discusses how to read a blood panel. I've linked specifically to where he discusses elevated RBC, hematocrit, and hemoglobin right here. Watch the whole thing if you want a deep dive. 


     


    Cliffs notes of that video: slightly high red blood cells are most likely caused by slight dehydration or elevated testosterone. If you're used to salt or potassium supplements in the morning, but didn't take the morning of your fasted blood test, that alone might cause a bit of dehydration.
