A small percentage of people with hypothyroidism were actually born without a thyroid. Does anyone have any experience dealing with that? Can you offer any suggestions for the best way to deal with it?
This question would probably best be tackled by a doctor.
Maybe natural desiccated thyroid for thyroid hormones that are lacking?

I'm just asking for a friend to see what options are out there. She's using synthetic T4 and is looking for other options. (I don't know much of anything about the thyroid)
They will have to take thyroid hormones for the rest of their life this is a given.
I would look into natural desiccated thyroid hormones.
They still need iodine at lower doses and restrict bromide and other halogens.
