Lipids Responsible For Stronger Insulin Response?

Just read an article that claims that lipids are responsible for a stronger insulin response:

I did not know that diabetes was affected by "the amount of calories we take in". If that is the old paradigm, I wonder if it is useful at all for us to follow much of what dr's tell us. Feedback?
