What Blood Tests Do You Need? And How To Read Them?

What blood test should I take?

And where can I find information on how to read them? What does the different numbers mean?

I just came back from India where I took the tests suggested by Rob Wolf: http://robbwolf.com/...rains-it-pours/

But not sure how to read them.

  • I would look into WellnessFX.
  • Thanks.

I live in Norway, would check it out if I lived in USA.

  • I'd also like to know what to be tested for and how to read the results. I can't afford WellnessFX at the moment, but if I go to my regular doctor for bloodwork, what specifically should I be asking for? I know it won't be as comprehensive as WellnessFX, but I'm sure there is some valuable information to be learned.
  • BUMP! I'd like to know the test for my Glutathione levels. My doctor is completely institutional regarding all of this but he can at least take my blood. I'm gonna try tweeting Dave too.
  • I'm also looking for the right answer to this question.

There seems to be some good information...

I'm not really qualified for that, to be honest. Maybe some other time I'll dig into it.

I think it's somewhat of a stretch to think that we can interpret the numbers ourselves without proper training/experience. Best bet - find someone who does 'functional medicine' or 'anti-aging' and work with them.

  • Another question! I was told to fast at least 12 hours before getting blood drawn or else the cholesterol and blood sugar tests will be inaccurate. Does this mean no BP coffee/tea? I think of that as prolonging a fast, but their definition of fast seems to be zero food, only water. Will drinking BP coffee/tea throw off the results?

I think everyone needs to start at a the base. It's all really financial based, if you have cash to spend, you can do every test under the sun. For us, here in the U.S, something like WellnessFX can give us great bang for the buck. You can see what's in their baseline panel from their website and start getting those tested. Then you can branch off if you need to with other things. My next stop is hormones because everything else looks great for me on my panels. Once I learn some more and want to take it to the next level, I will be ready to do so. I really think the GUT needs special attention so I'm about to focus all my attention on that once my basic general biomarkers are set. The Gut in my opinion is right next to having high levels of vitamin D, if you gut function is bad, you can't absorb any of the expensive grass-fed beef and other nutrients your busting your chops to get.

Everything I learned about "biohacking" has been baby steps to "circadian biology", that's where the real biohacking comes in. You can buy a bunch of cool shit to "hack" but if you don't have context, you're not winning. Paleo is just a brand now and too many have opinions, it's on you to read and reread the material to not only find truth but to connect the dots. Much love to everyone who has helped me on my journey for restoring my health, please keep in touch. Feel free to message me with health questions [email protected]

Don't take BPC before blood work if they say to not eat. Fats need to be digested too, you know.
  • Thanks. I wasn't planning to, but I wanted to know if it would make a difference.

Almost everything is covered under Medicare in Australia, except for the Omega 6 : Omega 3. They wanted $150 for that one. I'll have to keep digging to find somewhere else that does it for free image/wink.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=';)' />

    No sorcery, just science.

  • Oh yeah?! Here in the United States of America we get free magazines to read while we bleed to death in the emergency room. Take that!
