Rapid Fat Loss Protocol - Starts Today

Cruiser42Cruiser42 Want to look like this again - or BETTER!

Hello to my fellow BP Sisters!

I have decided to start the RFLP Protocol starting today -- I'm sure there's a forum for it, so my question to you is this:

Should I post over there ?  I feel at home here - with women who understand that a womans' body is SO different.

What do you think?  Here or there ?  Let me know, please

My stats:

54 years old - have been unable to lose weight for about 4 years (prior to that, yo-yo'd for decades)

Most of my weight is in my trunk (meaning mostly around my waist)   - 5'5", 201 pounds.  My initial goal is 150.  I will reassess after that

to see if I want to go down to 130.

Fairly active, but not an athlete.  Atho today I have spent HOURS searching for my supplements I have been amassing to start this protocol.  I cannot find my l-glutamine, so I'm going to have to venture out to the store.

An inconsistency I've found in the protocol I feel I'll need help with -- In the list of supplements, "Glutathione Force (1 tsp) away from other fat, twice per day (this is very important for liver function)  But then in the "this is what a typical day looks like", there is only one dose - first thing in the am.

What does everyone think ?  Once or twice ?  I cant be the judge, that s&%t is VILE.

Thanks in advance - this should be quite the adventure !

  • I like it here.  The thread title will show up in the mainstream, so if men want to contribute, they can.  But I agree with you. . . . I like the women's forum, too.

Good luck.  I can do a day a week, sometimes 2 days, of RFLP, but feel the lack of eating after that.  So I mix it up just to keep my body a bit off balance about what it is getting today.  A RFLP day here and there, with regular BP diet mostly and a carb refeed added in when needed and I feel good to go.

  • Cruiser42Cruiser42 Want to look like this again - or BETTER!

Thanks, Linda !  I'll keep it right here.

I'm not sure how I'll do on it either - but I'm going to try!  Right now I feel a little foggy!

  • Once a week, tops. With your history and age, you likely have a massive toxic buildup. Best of luck.

  • Post as often as you need to.  One of the other RLFP I followed, the gentleman said he became obsessed with diet/food/lack of food.  So keeping it a bit more technical and having the distraction of reporting to us may help keep your mind where it should be.  Also, your experience (both good and bad) will be good info for anyone else wanting to do this.   Plus sometimes venting is just the ticket.  I find that venting seems to take the power out of problems.  Hey, we are a team here.  All for one, and one for all!!!

I was a strong paleo before I went BP.  I went thru a few crappy days at first.  Yeah, though my diet was clean, until I got it BP clean.  So expect some fogginess and some flu-ish symptoms as a GREAT thing.  Your body is making changes!

  • Cruiser42Cruiser42 Want to look like this again - or BETTER!

Hey, Dobson - what are you referring to "once a week tops" ??? please ?

    thanks!

    Day 2 -

I feel pretty good !  Just having my coffee -- God but the glutathione is vile.  It better be doing something extraordinary for it to be that nasty!

I really enjoyed some tea last night with butter in it - I wasn't sure how the butter would taste with the tea, but it just made it extra creamy - which is a nice texture --

I slept very well, but I had help - too long a story, but I've been suffering from hives so I have a scrip to help me with flare ups and I sleep like the dead.  I don't take it often, but my hives have been acting up.  I don't truly believe I have hives - I believe it to be an allergy.  If its a food allergy, this should clear up nicely since I'm on the fast!  Another thing to monitor.  I am hopeful I can narrow it down!

I plan to do some housework today -- I didn't do much yesterday, but then again, I'm semi-retired, so that's not unusual.

Thanks, Linda -- my goal is to post daily - I know when I was considering this, I was looking for a post like this to help me decide.  So some days I'll post early, some late!

I'll try to get a good mix.  I'll post again if I have something of importance to relate.

Have a Super(bowl) Sunday !  Go BP Gals!  (not a football fan - don't care who wins)

  • Cruiser42Cruiser42 Want to look like this again - or BETTER!

Day 2 - end of day.

YIKES!  I have a mild case of the keto flu!  I have NO energy, I was SO hungry earlier, and almost caved.

The L-glutamine is amazing!  I immediately feel better after taking it!  It doesn't last long enough, but I can take more - I'll try that tomorrow as I have some appointments to go to in the afternoon.

I got VERY hungry around 7.  I ended up drinking beef broth.  First one cup, which tasted heavenly.  Then, I had a second cup with butter in it.  HEAVEN!  And it did the trick.  Whew!  Altho its just about 9:30 and I'm sleepy and tired - so I'm headed for the shower then bed.

I had planned on housework today, but all I accomplished was to lug in 2 40 pound bags of seed from the car, refill 3 bird feeders, got the garbage cans out, and took  a tour of the yard (I've got a LOT of yard work ahead of me once the weather turns warmer!) - oh, yeah, and I read a book.  I've been on the couch most of the day under a blanket.

I'm hoping/planning that this malaise will only last thru Tuesday or possibly Wednesday.  Dave promises that I'll feel great after a few days, so I'm really looking forward to that !

Oh, and dobson116, I finally figured out that you were telling me that I should only fast one or two days a week, tops.  Thanks, but I'm going to try and stick this out.

    More tomorrow !

    Lisa

  • Hey Cruiser.  What do you mean that the glutathione is vile?

  • Cruiser42Cruiser42 Want to look like this again - or BETTER!
    edited February 2015

The Glutathione force that Dave sells -- it comes in a dosable syringe.  Each syringe has 2 tsp or 10 ml in it.  On the BPIF, the dose is one ml per day - so each syringe would last you 10 days.  Not bad because this stuff is very expensive - 6 of the syringes cost $60.  The dose on the RFLP is one tsp twice per day - so essentially one syringe per day.  I've only been taking it once, in the am -- it is a thick nasty gummy paste and the taste of it is just vile.  There is no other word for it !  Someone else described it as a gunpowder taste, and that's true.  It does make me drink a HUGE glass of pink salt water, tho !  I am going to look for other sources - hopefully in pill form.

On another note, last night right before bed, I got a burst of energy and felt great !  I feel good today as well -- we have a plumbing leak somewhere so I've been completely distracted, but I feel energetic with a very slight headache.  So maybe I'm on the other side !!!!  Woo hoo !

  • Expensive and vile tasting. . . hmmm.   IF you find something better, be sure to tell us.  I did see a tip about the pink salt that helps me.  Dave mentioned that he just puts the pinch on his tongue then drinks the glass of water.  I tried that and it is much easier to get the salt down.  It isn't that it tasted bad in the water, but plain water does taste better to me.

YAY for energy!  I could have used some today.  It was like a flip switched mid afternoon today.  But I have been fighting allergies so maybe my body just needed a nap.  I happily gave it one : )

  • Cruiser42Cruiser42 Want to look like this again - or BETTER!

    End of day 3 -

Had a really good day!  I was productive, and felt good.  I had a minor headache, but I honestly think its allergies/sinus.  The weather has been crazy - at one point I was outside in a tee shirt and comfortable. Went back out 15 minutes later and needed a jacket.  Whew!  OK....

I'm not obsessed about not eating, but I'm keenly aware I'm not.  Altho there are times, like right now, where I'm not interested in food at all and not thinking about it.  I had good energy for the day and was happy (not grumpy!  I'm a normally happy person, so grumpy is very unusual for me).

Linda:  Naps are delicious !  Good for you!  Isnt this all about listening to our bodies ?  And yes, the Glutathione is expensive AND vile.  When I have exhausted my supply I wont be doing it again.  You can buy it in pill form.  I can only assume that its not as bio available as the vile paste is.  I'm going to try it and see if I can tell a difference - either in my body or mind.

I'm feeling good and anxious to see day 4!  I again have some appointments and errands to run, and I still need to clean house!  We shall see.......One day at a time.

    More tomorrow !

  • I tried RFLP today and couldn't finisht he day. I had to eat two eggs scrambled in coconut oil. Also, my blood glucose was really high at the end of the day at 111, I think my body started panicking at the lack of food. I'm curious to see how it works for you! I have about 12 lbs to lose and they are very stubborn!

This is me, too.  I used to be a marathoner.  After a back issue and being immobile - not being able to even brush my hair due to pain - for months, I lost a lot of muscle.  And motivation.  I have not been able to get that "gym-rat"  "sign me up" attitude back.  It has eluded me.  I'm very comfortable, but would like to get those last stubborn pounds off.  I know they'd melt away if I could get my workout routines back to what they were prior to the accident.. . . or even 1/2 of what they were prior to the accident.

In the meantime, I am just eating BP, loving life, listening to my body and doing the best I can for who I am today.

    Hello, anaelena11!

This protocol is extreme, and not meant for someone with only a few pounds to lose.  I'm not knocking you or your stubborn 12 pounds !  But this type of thing is really for people with MUCH more weight on their bodies - and that really makes a difference.  I have 50-70 pounds to lose!  My body and yours are very different.  I am also a firm believer in listening to your body!  Yours told you to eat - it knows what it needs.  It just took me a while to listen to its cues.

Also, if you are/were very athletic like Linda, your body is different from mine, as well.  I have always been active, but never athletic.  My job (before I retired) was semi-sedentary with bouts of activity.  I have exercised as I have dieted throughout my life -- all in, or nothing, mostly.  Also not good.

But I am a work in progress !  I wanted to try this because I thought I could do it.  Today is Day 4 and I seem to be doing okay !  I'm less focused on the lack of food today, which is nice - that has been a pretty constant companion these last few days.  It has also slowed time down for me - I feel like I've been doing this for WEEKS, and its Day 4.   I sort of have it in my head to try for 2 full weeks then do a full assessment of whether or not I want to continue.

So I've run my errands for the day - I feel good, and I'm trying to get into the house cleaning mode.  We are still crazy weather central here.  Its 37 now and will be 52 tomorrow.  Then 39 Thursday......ugh.....but if its really 52 tomorrow, I want to work out in the yard -- I'm prepped for going slower than normal.  Yard work is tough!

So I wish you well in your venture, anaelena11, I will eventually know the frustration of having to lose those  last pesky 12 pounds !  In the meantime, listen to your body, and Linda.  She's really got her head on straight and has good thoughts, ideas and strategies !!!

Thank you, Linda - for your encouragement and comments.  It truly makes it feel as if I have a friend along with me!

To anyone else watching this daily report - this will serve as my mid day Day 4 report.  Feeling good !  Less focused on food, okay on the energy front.  Oh, and another thing I feel I should mention.  I AM retired.  I could NEVER EVER have done this while I was working.  Not in a million years.  That's huge because I realize most people still work full time.  I do not.

    Great luck everyone!

    Lisa

  • Are you allowed the BP upgraded chocolate on the RFLP?  I've seen where others have used it but I don't know if it is allowed.  I made myself some decaf coffee with a spoon of the upgraded chocolate and some butter.  I blended it really really well.  It was NOT sweet, but it was a richer coffee flavor and I got a zip in my doo dah all afternoon.  Wahoo!   If you are allowed it, I thought I'd let you know that it did give me quite an energy boost today.

  • Cruiser42Cruiser42 Want to look like this again - or BETTER!

I'm not sure, Linda, if I can have the upgraded chocolate or not.  I don't have any so its moot at the moment, but its worth considering!  Glad you got zipped and doo dah'd this afternoon!  I'll order some so I can test it out for myself !!!  Thanks!!!!  I'll check the label to see what it has in it --

The second night when I was having a tough time, I had a cup of beef broth, then another one with butter in it.  It was almost the best thing I've ever tasted, but I can't really have it and shouldn't have had it - it has a little bit of protein (not allowed), and a very little sugar and carb content.  But it helped me thru it, so I'm thinking in the long run it cant have hurt the process.

I hope your tomorrow is as zippy as today !

    Day 5, Here I come!

Woke up groggy and fuzzy.  I know its because I was still itching (I've got to make an appt with an allergist!) so I took my no-itch-at-night meds, which knock me OUT.

I'm finding it a challenge to wait an hour after taking the vile L-Glutathione and having my coffee.  Its tough to wait !  So I'm trying to be productive.

Also, I ordered more of the vile L-Glutathione, which I said I wasn't going to do, but I also ordered some make your own gel caps so I can take it that way.  I am trying to stick to the protocol 100%.  I forgot my second set of charcoal caps yesterday, so I'm taking 6 of them instead of four today when I take them (in the first of the day dose).

I was reading some posts from last year when a group of about 5 women were on the RFLP - and I'm amazed at how many of them didn't take the supplements!  Maybe Dave should have bolded the text when he said that the supplementation was mandatory.  I would never consider the protocol without them.  Maybe I'm just a conformist!  I also refuse to step on the scale.  I will weigh when on my feed days ONLY (before I eat, of course!).  Once a week is enough !  I have always been tortured by the numbers, so I don't really like the scale to begin with, but Dave says to let the mirror be your scale, and even after 5 days, I CAN see the difference!  As excited as I am to weigh Friday morning, I will be even MORE excited the following Friday - which I believe will be pure fat loss, not just water + fat.  I also have the body fat analyzer Skye St John talks about in her book, so I'll be recording that, too.  I'll tell all on Friday - good or bad.  (I'm also a serial confessor, so I'll tell all).

Anyway - my fog is clearing as I finish my second cup of BP Coffee.  I'm feeling a little more energetic today, so I will either finally clean all the floors/carpets in my house today or I will go outside and pick up all the debris in the yard.  I'll report back later.

Have a Wickedly Wonderful Wednesday, everyone!

    Lisa

  • Cruiser42Cruiser42 Want to look like this again - or BETTER!

    End of Day 5 report:

Had a really good day!  I finally cleaned my house!  Well, I did the floors.  It was 2.5 hours of sweeping, vacuuming and mopping.  I had a few moments of dizziness when I stood up too fast, but other than that, it felt good to move.

My goal tomorrow is to go shopping for my food day.  That's exciting for me!  I plan to have rice, sweet potatoes, grass fed beef and some sort of vegetable.  Probably broccoli, but I'll see what looks good.

I feel good, I'm not focused on lack of eating or food, I'm following the protocol to the letter - and I hope to report excellent results on Friday !

    Till then, be well.....

    Lisa

  • How encouraging!  I'm so glad you are managing well and feel so strong!   YAY for you!!!

    Day 6 Report:

A good day !!! I feel hungry today - I cannot wait for my feed tomorrow!!!  Went shopping and bought rice, which I will make with beef broth, more sweet potatoes (I only had 2), more butter, because I was there, and grass fed AND finished beef from WalMart !  I'm still shocked they carry it - its 6.50 a pound, but I don't care.  I may have to do my feed (I still cant call it a re-feed, I'm not eating!) earlier than Day 7 next week.  Of course I'll report in.  I DID make an appointment for next week with an allergist - yay!  About time, Lisa !!!!

     I have made a few observations -

I'm COLD.  I never have been a cold person, in fact a friend labeled me a "polar bear" because I never seemed to be cold.  As I write this, I'm under a blanket!

My hot flashes have noticeably diminished.  WOW!  This is a wonderful side effect !!!  (hand in hand with being cold, I assume!)

Its important to keep track of the supplements because there are a lot!  And timing is everything!

I need to make an effort to get out of my head.  I find I'm overthinking things, or just dwelling on things in my head. I think this is the primary cause for me to feel like time has slowed and it seems endless!  Next week I will strive to be more active, do more things - I've done a lot of nothing this week !!!!  Now that I have a better feel for how I'm going to feel, I can get moving and get some things done.

I cannot eat butter.  I haven't even tried.  I just know I can't.  So I've been having my evening "meal" in herbal tea.

Okay - that's it for the end of Day 6!  As soon as I get my coffee tomorrow morning, I'll report on my weight loss, fully expecting it to be mainly water and glycogen, as warned by Dave and others.  Then, unless I'm in a carb coma, I will report what I ate and how I feel.  Thanks for coming along on my journey!!  If there's anything else anyone wants to know, please ask.

    Be well !

If you are especially feeling the cold in extremities (cold hands & feet), this is a symptom of hypothyroidism...so your thyroid could be temporarily down-regulating at the moment. if you were to to take some blood tests, a dropping ft3 & t3, and rising tsh & rt3 would back this up.

    so don't skimp/cut corners with your re-feed.

fake it till you make it

  • Cruiser42Cruiser42 Want to look like this again - or BETTER!

    Thanks, Daz - I wont skimp !!!

Well, its finally here !  I have lost TEN pounds in 6 days !!!!!  My results definitely exceeded my expectations !!!!!

I just finished my BP coffee, and I'm about to fire up the oven - I'm baking 5 sweet potatoes (I wont eat them all, but my mom likes them too!), grass fed steak,

and baked kale and onions.  While that is going I'm going to cook some rice in some beef broth.

    Any other suggestions ????

I'll report later on what I ate, how it felt to eat after a week, and how it affected me.  Continued thanks for the support, everyone !

    Lisa

  • YOU are a ROCK STAR!!!   Wahoo!!!   Week one is DONE!!!   I'm so happy for you.

Let's see, rice with butter, meat, sweet potatoes, kale, onions.   I'd add some broccoli or Brussels sprouts cooked up with bacon (YUM!)

One question, what do you mean that you cannot eat butter?  Do you mean you cannot take a slice and put it on your tongue?

  • Cruiser42Cruiser42 Want to look like this again - or BETTER!

Thank you, my cheerleader !!!!!!!  I have to admit I'm strutting a bit in my kitchen !!!!!

GREAT suggestion - and I bought broccoli yesterday, so I'll add it in to the kale/onion mix.  I don't have any bacon at the moment - but I drizzle the juice from the meat pan into my kale - its delicious!  (I bake my kale for 20 minutes, after putting a little grapeseed oil on it so it wont burn).

And yes, I cannot eat butter alone, or even with pink salt on it.  I just know I can't do it -- I LOVE butter, but melted in other things - I cannot eat it alone...its a texture thing, I think - too rich, too, well, buttery!  I'm weird.

Anyway - steaks and sweet potatoes are in the over, rice is on the stove!

Okay, forgot to POST.  I've taken about 4 or 5 spoons of rice, and I'm waiting to see if my stomach will reject it.  Its iffy at the moment.  :???:

  • Hi Cruiser and Linda,

I start the rflp tomorrow and feel really encouraged by your thread. I needed to lose weight before Christmas then got ill at Christmas and as I have an underlying asthma condition that flares up when ill unfortunately I had to take a dose of antibiotics and steroids as it was a horrible bug. I barely recovered and then did 5long days work, far too long hours (production assistant) and I haven't been able to get my energy up to exercise. I got ill again and before I get into hard gym work I thought I would do the rflp to kick start and hopefully lift my gloom at being too much a Munchkin.  I can then ease myself into HIIT and weights.

I am going to find it really weird to not even have a whey shake in the evening which I would so prefer to butter but I guess there must be a reason for it all! I wonder, if blending the butter in a chamomile or mint tea would be ok in the evening? I really am going to struggle to eat butter with salt straight! Funnily enough though I don't mind the upgraded glutathione and taking it has helped me feel a bit better each day. Do you have herb tea? Ah if it's just coffee and water I am in for a challenge!

How is the weight loss going? Do you think it's better than a green juice detox? My friend is trying to convince me to do that but I thought a bulletproof keto reset would be a good idea.

It will be nice to share experiences so I will let you know how I do.

    Warm wishes,

    Mx

  • Cruiser42Cruiser42 Want to look like this again - or BETTER!

    Hello, Matilda!!!!

I am so sorry you've had a LONG bout of icky illness!  Are you all better?  The only reason I ask is that this protocol is extreme, and I made sure I was ready physically, mentally, and supplementally (meaning I had ALL the supplements) before I started.  The first 3 days were not easy, and certainly not anything I could have done while I was working - I'm retired, so it didn't matter if I didn't get off the couch!  I'm not suggesting you don't do it, I just think you need to really be ready - to increase your chance of success.  It was a LONG week!!!  Best of luck to you!!!!

I take all the supplements - and try to adhere to the schedule - that doesn't always work, but I do try to adhere to the timing - ie, 2-3 hours prior, one hour after with the charcoal.  I too, CANNOT eat butter.  I put it in my cup and pour hot water in it with my herbal tea bags - after a few minutes I just stir it up.  Its been fine that way every night.

I lost 10 pounds in 6 days, so I'm very happy about that!!!!  I'm on my feed day, so here's my report:

I started off my day with BP Coffee around 1030 - then fired up the stove.  I cooked 3 steaks, 5 baked potatoes, 2 bags of rice, and a pan of kale, onions and broccoli.

I could never eat all that food, but my mom likes rice and sweet potatoes, and I figure the steak and potatoes will last.

I had to eat everything slowly.  After about 4 bites of rice, I got a bit nauseated and had to wait.  Nausea passed, so I spent the day just eating a little each time.  I finished a steak, one sweet potato and a small bowl of veggies.  I feel pretty full, but I'm going to attempt to nosh until bedtime.  I can appreciate that I should probably have confined my eating to a window, ala IF, but I was taking such small bites (sometimes 20 minutes apart), that I felt that a daylong graze was what my body required.  I listened to its cues and it told me when it was okay to take the next bite.

I feel good !  I don't feel like I'm in a carb coma, I haven't really done much - but I wanted to be near the food the first day to see how it went - I can venture out next Friday now that I'm prepared!!  I'm not cold - which further backs up your comment Daz, about my thyroid going a little wacky. I'm not depressed - although I doubt I would be, I'm a normally happy person to begin with - although I DO admit I'm not AS patient.  I've gotten a tone with my mom a few times, when I normally do not.  Just a few times, but enough that I notice.  Gotta watch that.  She cant pay any price of me attempting this feat.  With all of that said, I am prepped for the next week to come, and I'm excited to see where this journey takes me!

I do have a question for Dave or moderators or anyone who honestly knows:  I'm confused about the elimination of toxins procedure.  As I understand it, as my body sheds excess fat, I am guarding against the perils of that elimination by the supplements, esp the charcoal.  Got that.  But if the intent is to flush those bound toxins out of my body via pooping, I'm not eating, so there is no pooping!  Where are the toxins GOING ?  Are they hanging around in my body waiting for my feed day and subsequent elimination ?  If this doesn't make sense, please let me know and I'll try again to explain.  I just don't understand the full process, I suppose.  I'd love an answer, however -

Thanks again to Linda especially, and everyone else who has been with me on my quest.  Onward !  More tomorrow --

    Lisa

I would presume you would be losing toxins via urine [edit], perspiration & breath, as well.

Aha !  Excellent thought,Daz, there certainly is plentiful urine !!!

    Thanks ! I don't know why I didn't think of that!

Speaking of which, I don't know if I'm just being extraordinarily silly or this is real, but I SHOULD have guessed that.  And I am not as fast at Wheel of Fortune or Jeopardy in this last week -- sometimes I know the answer but cant pull it out of my head fast enough.

I'm wondering if I'm suffering from a slight cognitive deficit due to the diet.  Something to watch.  Thanks, Daz !

  • Reading all this gets me *almost* motivated to try it again.   But, I won't.  I do only eat one meal a day on many days keeping my fasting window open longer.  That's about as extreme as I can get yet it is really comfortable for me.   Yesterday I had BP coffee and water thru the day, then had a tuna steak, 6 raw hazelnuts, and broccoli with butter for dinner.

Matilda, I wish you luck!   As Lisa has said, the preparation is the key to making this work.   I, too, battled with the sinus infection from H-E-Double Toothpicks last summer.  It would NOT go away. I was sick for months. It ended up being a fungal infection and the doctors kept missing it.  Once on the correct homeopathic meds from my NEW doctor, it still took a few weeks for it to go away.

Lisa - I agree with Daz about the urine.  I'll be interested to hear how well you sleep tonight with those carbs pulsing thru your veins, and how you feel tmr.  There is so much success and awareness in this thread - the mind, the tone,  weight, energy and temperature - well done!

before rflp your brain would have been running on mostly glucose, after a few days on rflp your brain would have been running on mostly ketone bodies. that's gotta take some time for your brain function to adjust/adapt to.

fake it till you make it
