After four full days of fasting, eating nothing but handfuls of all the recommended supplements (including Modafinil that I started the same day as the fast) I woke up in the night with a feeling that I had to pass gas.  Boy, was THAT a mistake!


 


Side question:  WHY THE HELL IS MY TONGUE WHITE!!??  My crap is pitch black and my tongue is bone white.  Jesus lord.  I have always used a tongue scraper and my tongue has always been a natural, healthy pink/red color.  Now it's white and it won't go away no matter how hard I scrape.

    RFLP is a bad idea for most people anyway.

  • Yeah - regular ketosis done right will get similar results and won't do so much crazy to the body. 


     


    Not unusual on fasting for bowel movements to take on all sorts of shapes /sizes /textures.


     


    As Walter noted, starting modafinil at the same time wasn't probably the best idea. 


    That goes for any supplements. I would start them one at a time, so you can trace any issues back to certain things. 


    Any major change to the body is going to shock the system with mixed results.

    Starting supplements one at a time sounds like a great idea.  I might go off of them at some point and retry with that in mind.  Most of them I plan to continue taking.


     


    As far as the intermittent fasting, I had poor results with that.  Lots of people I read (Dave included) go on and on about how you don't have to count calories when you intermittent fast and the fat just sheds away.  I was keeping to a 95% BPD and drinking BP coffee in the morning and not eating until around 6pm and I had literally zero weight loss at 1700-2000 calories a day.  I got fed up and decided to try this.  In 5 days I've lost 7 pounds. My body looks great and I feel great.  I'm just going to do it until I lose 15lb total then I'll be back in the 1 meal a day plan since I feel really good eating only once a day.


     


    WAIT...I just remembered that I wasn't doing any refeeds on that intermittent fasting.  I didn't even know I was supposed to.  So when I get back to it I will definitely add that into the routine.  Maybe that was the problem?

    Reading Dave's intermittent fasting,  it says to take Bulletproof Coffee in the morning,   dont eat Lunch until  2PM and the lunch should be fat and protein.....when it is dinner time....it is then that you should eat carbs......your Dinner should not surpass 8PM....or if you feel hungry still...you shorten the amount of hours...so instead of 8 being the cut off...you can make it 9PM or 10PM.


     


     


    Maybe try that instead of   RFLP for the time being.

  • The lack of fiber in your RFLP diet combine with the lack of any true balanced nutrition will send signals to your body that you are an idiot who cannot find proper food and thus cause the body to revolt. I'm not calling you an idiot specifically, just the state that signals your body when one avoids all protein and carbs.


     


    Chalk up another reason to not follow the RFLP....literally pooping the bed from drinking nothing but fat and synthetic amino acids. But it's healthy because fat is really the preferred fuel source for the body and coffee + butter provides all the nutrition/sustenance humans need for proper metabolic function...said no one ever.


     


    Sorry for being a troll, but sometimes I guess you've gotta poop your bed to learn a lesson.


  • I am doing the rflp and am currently on day 10.  I am not taking Modafinil.  I also do not have a white tongue.  I had full bloodwork done before embarking on the RFLP, so just be mindful of your organ function (which may or may not be why your tongue is white)  It can also be caused by thrush or dehydration.  Keep in mind that if you are not getting enough electrolytes, you will dehydrate even if you're getting enough water.  I ran into a problem with that (especially since I had diarrhea the first few days on rflp), and I ended up buying the Vega hydration electrolytes.  They made me feel like a new woman, and are sweetened with stevia.  Also, as with ANY fast or detox, do NOT trust a fart.  As for diarrhea....  don't have more than 2 Tbsp of XCT oil per day.  You don't need extra to get further into ketosis because you're already in a ketotic state.  Increase your activated charcoal (I take 4 twice per day).  I had to cut out the midday vitamin C.  Twice per day is all my insides can handle.  Until the diarrhea subsides, open your magnesium capsule and dump half out.  500 is A LOT.  Many of the natural laxatives out there only put 200.  Work up to 500....  I hope this helps.  I had disaster pants at first too.  Don't fart unless you're on a toilet, and make sure you have an extra pair of pants in your car anywhere you go until you get it under control.  Also, the HCL really does help with diarrhea so if you are not taking it when you consume your fats, that may be part of the problem.  Hope this all helps!

    I have never tried the RFLP and it seems like a pretty intense regimen. Everyone's body and their body's response to changes in behavior are different. You might not need that drastic a plan that drastic that to make progress. I had excellent results just using plain intermittent fasting. I used bulletproof coffee in the mornings with a second or a cup of regular ol coffee at noon, transitioning to mostly green-zone foods  in the late afternoon or dinnertime. Avoiding processed foods did wonders for me, regardless of macros or whether I was having too many or too few carbs each night.  


     


    If you at any point feel brave enough to try RFLP again, make sure your gut, kidneys and liver are all back to tip top shape. Try introducing your supplements gradually before you begin. That can help you identify the root cause of your distress. 


     


    Also, black, tarry stools and diarrhea are both listed as possible side effects for Modafinil. Sign me up!

  • If you are shitting yourself thats one thing...Having (diarrhea) or loose pitch black stool for bowel movements means get medical attention. Black means stale blood that has been absorbed into stool.
    Bright red means fresh blood. Sounds like a parasite issue with your gut that has evolved into a case of Diverticulitis. Which can lead to very serious issues. White pasty mouth can mean dehydration to cancer. Your mouth issues are also a direct symtom of Diverticulitis.
    Step.1
    Stop the bullshit diet and supplement regiment including any MCT or Cannabis extracts immediately!!!!!

    Step.2
    Go to the nearest Emergency clinic for medical attention.
    They will detox your gut with some nasty activated charcoal.
    Then they will give you some extremely strong atibiotics for your digestive tract, which will in turn completely kill and eliminate all the important and very much needed good bacteria that is left in your gut.
    Then it'll be a good week at least, mabey longer to start the healing process. This will require a daily dose of pre/probiotic supplements, which if it was an extremely bad case wih your gut you will be required to take these pills infinitely.
    Wake the hell up!!!! You are not a doctor!! Following these bullshit miracle diets and consuming all those substaces you read about on these websites will land you in hospital or worse.
    Stick to smoking or vaping your Cannabis material!!
    I am a Gastroenterology specialist.MD going on my 27th year in this field.
    I hope this information wakes you the hell up before you will need surgery to start removing parts of your stomach and intestines, which will leave you shitting in a colonoscopy bag!!

    HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA I think you're doing too many things at once. You can't change that many variables and then not expect some weird side effects that are impossible to pin on any one factor.
