Are Nut Butters Bulletproof?

I was wondering if nut butters (almond, walnut, cashew, pistachio, but not peanut butter) are bulletproof.  They seem to have low carb/sugar, and high in fat, obviously.  I would like to include them more frequently in my lunch or dinner in order to increase my dietary fat content to keep myself better satiated between meals.  I do not snack during the day, as Dave recommends.

  • Generally speaking preprepared nut butters are not considered Bulletproof. I haven't verified this personally but supposedly manufacturers will use "seconds" and poorer quality nuts for making butters and spreads...this does make sense I suppose. Potential for mold is pretty high.

If you want to add nut butters find a health food store or whatever where you can grind them yourself at the location or, better yet, do it at home. Get organic, whole nuts (almonds, cashews, macadamia nuts are considered "best") and make them into butters yourself. Peanuts are still a no no unfortunately.
