Fat Metabolism And Genetic Testing

Results from 23 & Me and organic acids testing show that I do not have a great fat metabolism. However I perform best with plenty of fat and don't feel well without enough. The knee jerk recommendation is to reduce the amount of fat in the diet but I am wondering if a better strategy would be to optimize the metabolism. I am a competitive rower and have changed my training to low rate MAF protocol using my heart rate as my guide. Are there other, perhaps more novel strategies to increase fat metabolism, that you can suggest?
