Homocysteine And Athletic/sexual Performance Issues

Found this tidbit on Dr. Sears website

"Excess homocysteine keeps your blood vessels from opening up, or “dilating,” properly.A level above 10.4 mM/L is abnormally high. I generally shoot for a goal of below 7 with my patients."

And that got me thinking about how it could affect athletic as well as sexual performance for obvious reasons...low blood circulation/pressure.

Other than methylfolate/b12 and general good nutes is there anything to squash this?

  • Some people take L-arginine to dilate blood vessels, but I think that it is best stacked with l-ornithine and/or oxaloacetate to prevent extra nitrogen build up.

I hold everything Dr. Sears says with a lot of skepticism because he has demonstrated time and time again that he does not understand basic bio-chemistry.

  • Methionine restriction, B6, methylfolate, B12, and TMG should pretty much squash it. TMG and methionine restriction are the most cost-effective.
