The instructions say "Add 2 1/2 tablespoons (37ml) of freshly ground Bulletproof coffee...". But when I measure out 2 1/2 tablespoons onto a food scale, it only comes out to about 13ml. Why is this?
I did some research and discovered that food scales do not accurately measure mL correctly. Food scales measure weight (grams, lbs, ounces) and when converting to mL (volume), it uses water density to convert. So for dry ingredients, the mL is not accurate. This can be tested by measuring in grams and mL. If they are equal, then it is not correctly measuring the volume of the dry ingredient.
Wet ingredients, however, are close to accurate, depending on density.
