High thyroid peroxidase level, normal TSH
So I've been feeling like crap for years. Constantly fatigued despite good diet and exercise, brittle and peeling nails, thinning hair (between ages 25-30), dry skin, palpitations, anxiety, depression. I'm 5'4" female, 152lbs, age 30. I FINALLY got a doctor to check something other than TSH, T3 and T4 together. Here are the results from the tests she ordered:
TSH WITHOUT REFLEX - 0.978 uU/mL Standard Range: 0.358 - 3.740 uU/mL
THYROID PEROXIDASE AB - 347.7 [IU]/mL Standard Range: 0.0 - 5.5 [IU]/mL
I followed up with my family doc to discuss results. Since my hormones are all in normal range and functioning properly, she's having me do an iodine uptake test and thyroid ultrasound. This is somewhat of a relief, and she said something like Hashimoto's or Grave's would be accompanied by wonky hormone levels. Has anyone had issues with thyroid peroxidase? What did you do? Bonus question: are you a female trying to get pregnant soon? I'm worried about what this may do to my pregnancy efforts.
Thanks in advance!
