Help me explain to my skeptical vegetarian relative that her high cholesterol is likely diet related

She is a highly western medicine educated nurse practitioner in the US and is struggling with high cholesterol that she feels is 100% genetic. I attempted to explain that her diet is a contributing culprit but she is absolutely unconvinced citing lack of clinical research. Help me change her mind!

Her diet mainly consists of cheeses and other dairy products (yogurt, milk, cottage cheese...), grains, frozen processed vegetarian meals made by Kashi and Morning Star Farms, peanut butter, veggies, eggs and fish -- so I guess she's a pescatarian.
