"Granular" ice formation

When the ice maker is operating, water enters the inside of the evaporator cylinder. In this case, ice forms on the inner wall of the cylinder, which is cooled by the refrigerant. Ice frozen on the cylinder wall is scraped off by a screw driven by an electric motor, and transferred to the upper part of the cylinder, where it is pressed, frozen, pricked and thrown out (into the hopper) through the exit window.
