Rapid Fat Loss Protocol

Have any women out there done the rapid fat loss protocol as outlined on the main site? I feel really good with the all fat diet for a few days at a time, so I am giving it a try. I have not yet used the BCAAs cause they look like they would ruin the coffee, and taste terrible in water.

Thoughts? Experiences? I am going to try it for a week or two and see how it goes. I may do less than one week before the carb refeed, and am just going to go day by day, and how I feel.

Thanks!

Do not go crazy with the RFLP and stick with it for two weeks at a time. When will you have time to reset leptin balance? the RFLP is awesome, but as Dave stresses, you WILL either harm yourself or postpone the time when you will see substantial results, if not conducting this rather significant nutritional experiment in a responsible and calculated way. Remember, the RFLP is one of the more radical tools, and should not be taken lightly.

the BCAA's... Few things that will greatly benefit you happen to taste good. Glutathione tastes like Satan's semen, but works magic on your liver.

    Happy days!

  • Besides if you absolutly can't stand BCAA's in water you can always swallow a bunch of capsules of it.

Usually health food stores sell pill tray kits...meaning you buy whatever size capsule you want, put them on the tray, pour the powdered substance and voila! you now have capsules and don't have to taste whatever you are putting inside.

How do I know this....? ;) I am a trained Placenta Encapsulation Specialist - we dry the placenta in a dehydrator, grind it, then put it in capsules. The best homemade supplement for new moms on the planet. It's Original Gangsta Bulletproof.

  • Thanks for the tips all. I don't plan to do this long term, but I feel so good. I have been a paleo eater for some time (years) now and did an extended period of Leptin Reset (JK plan...) and all have been helpful. This is the best I feel, so I am going with it. However, more than a week or two I will not likely do.

Capsule makers, of course! I have done this for Piracetam. But it seems like you need a lot. I guess I should just down it with water then drink my AM coffee. I hate the glutathione too. Vile. I use it intermittently.

  • You can capsule your own but there is no need here. There are plenty of BCAA's in capsules already. However, as you said it takes a lot.

i appreciate that capsules make taking certain things more convenient, but i think there is value in the full experience, including taste buds.    i ate some of my kids placentas raw after giving birth...thats some original bulletproofing right there.  though i do wish i had saved some more for consumption spread out over the post-partum period

  • Ok, so I tried shooting two tablespoons of BCAAs in some water this AM, and I am pretty sure it surpasses unpleasant. I have not gagged on food or vomitted in many years, and I can say for sure that I came close to vomitting, complete with the mouth watering and sweating. I cannot drink it, that much is clear. Capsules it will have to be. I will need to get some large ones, and down a bunch.  It was very intense, and I cannot say that I am squeamish or picky. I just had a visceral response to it, felt like poison.

That being said, I have lost a nice and steady amount of fat, plus I am sure water weight. I feel really good, and mind is clear. Eyes are dry, likely from lack of carbs. No major detox-y reactions. I think that 2 years of paleo, and slow fat loss over that time has flushed out a lot of the bad stuff stored in my fat from pre-paleo years. Early on in low carb Paleo I had lots of skin eruptions as I lost fat, even very slowly. Happy that this is not the case these days.

Re Placenta, I don't have kids, and am not sure I would do that, but go for it! Lots of good stuff in there I am sure. I am not that hard core...yet!

    Women... Women eat placentas?...

The smart ones do! The nutrients and hormones are so vital to post-partum recovery. Helps with all the blood lost during labor, and if a woman went into labor (or worse, pregnancy) as already iron-deficient, she is going to have a tougher and longer time recovering and healing after the birth. Every female mammal eats the placenta, and in many cultures it is normal. we, of course, had to make it bad and yukky, which is such a detriment to women's health (and subsequently the children she cares for.) Think about it...if a woman bounces back with no depression and regains her energy quickly, she's far more capable of being a present, attentive mother.

I was at a chemist yesterday and saw a jar of sheep placenta capsules - would these be a good substitute for women without kids? Are there any benefits to men eating them?

We had to have a c-section and the hospital just disposed of our placenta without asking us if we wanted to do anything with it. :???:

We definitely recommend sheep's placenta to moms who couldn't keep their placenta (hospitals will never ask you...they make money from placentas for research and skin care, so you are honing in on 'their' income when you ask for your placenta.) I knew a mom who was told 'get a court order' if she wanted her placenta because the hospital considered it their property....she was a 'type A' lawyer, and was successful in getting her court order on the day she was scheduled for a c-section.

Yes, there are lots of bio active substances in sheep's placenta, aminos, immune co-factors, hyaluronic acid, etc. Of course, only grass-fed, preferably a source from New Zealand. No idea what the studies for men taking it. Positive results have bee reported for menopausal women or post-hysterectomy. It is also great for skin!

So sorry to hijack the post which was about Rapid Fat Loss Protocol! I think there is some research about using sheep's placenta during weight loss regimes, so maybe we're not that far off topic after all....

Any more women and the RFLP info/stories/issues?

I am one day after my carb refeed day. I also ate some protein on a couple of the days of the fasting portion because I couldn't deal with hunger, and had not yet tried the BCAAs. I gained about a pound post starches, but look the same. No swollen, or inflamed like after a bad carb refeed (with sugar, usual for me) I did eat some honey in some homemade gummy bears, and it was way too sweet for me, and I felt a little ill.

So back on a fast day and feeling good. Total of 8-9 lbs in 7 days.

Felt very fatigued by the end of the last few fast days, but there were days that I skipped the afternoon butter snack just out of feeling buttered out. Got a small blender for office so I will make the PM BP coffee to make this easier. First few days I craved the plain salted butter, then I wanted nothing to do with it.

Examples of what protein etc. I ate on a few days was the following:

One day I had two grassed burgers, small, an avocado and a poached egg in butter. I think some raw onion. Maybe some pureed greens and butter, can't remember. I guess that is not quite small. I was so so hungry. I felt overly full for hours after, it was way too much. No weight loss slowing.

Another day I had two poached eggs (crazy craving) with melted Kerry Gold garlic herb butter (poor man's benedict) and a spoon of salsa. I guess that was a carb cheat, but no issues. I think I also had an avocado.

Another day I ate some olives.

I had a mad craving for acidic things like lemon juice and vinegar. I wanted it badly. I think that is why the salsa came into it. Also wanted veggies with a strong urge. So I had some.

So as I write this out, I cheated A LOT!!! But I felt right doing it and lost a bunch. Worked a bunch of very intense work days, and got less sleep than usual due to train service disruption coupled with gnarly traffic. Still worked!

So I will keep going until it doesn't feel good. Now I have BCAA pills, and trying them for first time today. Already feel pretty good. A bit of a relief not to have pressure of having to plan to cram all good foods into one reefed day when I am not all that hungry. Appetite radically diminished. This is huge for me as I am a bottomless pit.

Verdict: Love it. Plan: Will continue for at least another week making modifications along the way as needed. Key facts: Sleep needs might go up, and I think the suggested supps really might matter quite a bit for optimal outcome and feeling energetic.

PS:I also am using Piracetam, which I like quite a bit. It adds to energy, even taken once in the AMs.

Have you been getting more depressed or more irritaded after taking Piracetam?

  • Piracetam: No, I feel like I am calmer and more focused with Piracetam. I take about 800 mg one to two times per day.

My husband gets irritable taking choline supplements though, so if you are doing that, it could be a cause.

Thanks. I had read somewhere that after some time it could be a cause of this. Can you share what additional supplements you are taking with it. I have heard that taking additional supplements can make it`s use more effective by helping out with adrenal gland stimulation. Have zero experience with this but am learning all the time. Anyone?
