No one interested in the Big Nog v Werdum fight this weekend?

    I've got

Werdum. rest of the card isn't that interesting, but I'll be watching all the fights ;-)

    Relax your flaps, son!!

Actually, I'm in the same boat as you. I don't even think I'll watch this except for Big nog v Werdum... and yeah, I'm backing Werdum too. Nog is getting too old.

    No sorcery, just science.

  • Cool special effect!!!

I'll chime in once it gets closer.  After getting trounced in the forgotten 420 bet last UFC on May-nerd (and another 420 on MIA moneyline game 6...and 220 on the over last night) I'm in grind my way back mode yet again.  NFL is where I earn my keep, but I usually stay in the black on UFC and MLB betting.  I didn't even know there was a TUF Brazil season 2.  Time to look that up!

I recall being quite impressed by Erik Silva, but will need to look up his opponent.

I picked Werdum to win but I think Nog can win the fight. The reason I say that is because far too often I think Werdum does very little to win during a fight. He sometimes just coasts through and inevitably hopes that his opponent will engage him on the ground. I think it would be stupid for Nog to do so as I don't think guys like Nog or Mir are at the same level as Werdum jiu-jitsu wise. Werdum's striking is a lot better than it used to be, but still not great, so I suppose Nog's best chance is to edge him there if he can but I don't expect him to. I think Werdum is more motivated so I expect him to win via TKO or submission.

As for Thiago Silva, I think his career is pretty well going down the drain. I'm never sure where this guy's head is at so I'm not sure what to expect. I anticipate Feijao will KO him.

I went 10-2 on my picks, though it wasn't a particularly difficult card. Shame I didn't bet on it

I've updated my pick post with W or L next to the name and a 10-2 underneath to help out with the math

UFC161 next, gonna be a little more difficult.

    UFC 161
Date: June 15, 2013, Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada

  • I went 9-3, which is pretty good. And UFC 161 doesn't look very interesting either, except for the Shields-Woodley fight has me intrigued even if it could be a potentially dreadful fight. I just want to see what happens grappling-wise.

I think Evans will beat Henderson because Henderson is too predictable as a fighter, has bad cardio and his 'world class' wrestling seems quite porous.

Nelson-Miocic? I really don't think Nelson is that good, but even so, why is he fighting a guy who is coming off of a loss to Struve (whom Nelson has previously beaten). Odd matchmaking. I would prefer to see Nelson vs Hunt... if not in a fight, at least in a KFC eating contest.

So went 7-11, which isn't too bad. Put a small bet on the Facebook card as a parlay. My UK mate lost and I though that Yves lost too.

Not a great card over all but still enjoyed by couple of hours in front of the TV sunday morning. Next one should be better (in theory).

Man, Dana White can rant with the best of them.  He has a long (and IMO justified) frustration with the quality of referees (and judges) that the (corrupt IMO) Nevada Athletic Commission relegates to his fights.  He may in part be bashing a competitor in the World Series of Fighting, and the action did happen very quickly...but when you look at how ridiculously long it took Mazzagatti to notice and react to an unconscious fighter even after the winner stood up...it makes you really wonder how these guys get their jobs.

Here's the epic rant in case you missed it...

Here's what he is referring to.  For that suck-up commentator Todd Harris (5:06) to even complement Mazzagatti reinforces my disapproval of that chump.  "Steve Mazzagatti was right on the spot, stepped in..."  Complete rubbish.

There's been some shocking refereeing over the past couple of years and nothing done about it. Bad stoppages, bad stand-up and I don't like the refs who feel like they have to continually speak to the fighters and tell them how hard they should be working. Seems like a lot of them what to be the stars of the show. A ref should be seen and not heard (except for warnings).

  • Very Forrest Griffen-esque. Anyone catch the betting line on that fight? That was probably a bigger upset then Bigfoot over the Reem.

  •

    Stacked card!

Talk about a gimme fight for Edgar. Reminds me of Cody Mckenzie getting fed to Mendes.

Siver vs Swanson is ridiculous! Swansons a little more dynamic a fighter and I give him the slight edge.

Hoping Roger can get Kennedy to the mat, the guy is an absolute stud on the ground.

The Champ is Back!!! Time to put a violent halt on the Weidman hype train.

    WAR SILVA!!!

  • I'm going with Weidman... Sonnen had a lot of success against Silva, and I even picked Sonnen to beat Silva in the first fight because I figured he was the type of fighter who would finally beat Silva. However, Weidman is a better wrestler and more importantly, grappler, than Sonnen, is stronger mentally, hits a lot harder, and can probably even submit/stop Silva should he secure the takedown. I bought into Weidman's hype a long time ago but I've been waiting for Weidman to get a real test. Now he's got one.

I went to UFC 148, did the fan expo and I must say it got tiresome. The line-ups were painfully long even for the less known fighters. If you do decide to go, get there suuuuper early.
