Epstein Barr Help

I've had Epstein Barr for almost 15 years and it came back with vengeance lately. I'm looking for help on diet or supplements that can help with the fatigue and swollen glands and general feeling crappy. Hoping the bulletproof community has some experience with this.

Outside of feeling better I sense there has to be a way to get rid of it completely, the body regenerates every 30-60 days right? Why the hell can't we figure out a way to tell the body that it doesn't belong?

Thanks!

Tony

Try natural antivirals like Gaia Herbs Elderberry, Monolaurin, Jarrow Lactoferrin and L Lysine. I would also suggest strenthgening the immune system with Vitamin D 5,000 IU a day, Vitamin C Ester C 2,000 mg a day, and Opti L Zinc By Now 30 mg a day. Good Luck!

Do you know your vitamin d levels? I'd get them checked if you haven't. Also, a happy accident miracle supplement for me personally has been glutathione. So many issues cleared up for me when I started taking it. Good luck!!
  • wow, i just looked it up on wikipedia and am fascinated because i've

been trying to biohack herpes and have noticed that there are a lot of

similar suggestions for Lupus treatment as far as antiviral herbal

formulas and now i see that EB is also in the herpes family of viruses.

i've been using andrographis paniculata from here:

    http://www.al-qemi.com/store/index.php?main_page=advanced_search_result&search_in_description=1&keyword=andrographis

they carry a formula for Lymes that contains andrographis.

    a

local store/health restaurant carries these products and though i don't

really understand the method for making this medicine because it seems a

little woowoo, it sure tastes and feels powerful.  i also trust the

people who run the store...they carry lots of potent natural medicine

    and approach food as medicine.

    i have also been

making tea from lemon balm and licorice root and drinking it every day.

also taking cold showers/baths, sometimes with epsom salts.  i was

getting the pain that precedes an outbreak on sunday and have been

treating it in this manner since then and have not had an outbreak

yet...i think it would have come by now, but i still have minor

    lingering pain.

i think lysine is important, though i wonder

about whether there is a long term effect on the balance of arginine and

lysine.  vitamin c...i've been sourcing food based (amla powder) cause

i'm not comfortable with the corn-based lab-made stuff.

i seemed to have more outbreaks when i started the bulletproof diet.  i don't know if it was other factors though.

a friend of mine recently said that he heard that herbal antivirals were very specific to

a particular virus, that there is no "broad-spectrum" antiviral like

there are for bacteria.  he could not site the source for this

information.  anyone know anything about this?  cause i know a lot of

herbs that are antiviral and hope they are not so specific.

Lemon balm tea is great for a tonic action, but if you want a more aggressive application, the concentrated pure essential oil of Melissa in a dermal application is going to get you there quicker,

He is kind of right in a way. Elderberry is a good anti-viral but has really only been proven to help with the flu. The same with Anise. Lactoferrin is probably this best broad spectrum anti-viral, but I wonder about the use of long term animal interferon.

  • Here's the symptoms: Swollen tonsils, Teeth hurt, Eyes itch, Irritability, Poor Sleep/Insomnia, Back Pain/Really Tight muscles and General Pain in bones/joints. Sounds fun huh?

Solutions I've tried with limited results:

    Iodine/Selenium

    Vitamin D

    Great results:

Raw diet, no processed foods and very low amount of carbs from sugar. No bread.

  • Lemon balm tea is great for a tonic action, but if you want a more aggressive application, the concentrated pure essential oil of Melissa in a dermal application is going to get you there quicker,

Can you explain what this does, I haven't heard of it and more specifically what is tonic action?

  • I'm going to do an experiment starting today taking the following vitamins/supplements:

Selen-Aid (Sodium Selenite) - under the tongue two drops

Icelandic Kelp (Iodine) - 1 a day 225 MCG, apparently you should take this with the above supplement

    L-Glutathione 100mg - 1

    Super Bio C Buffered - 2 @ 1000mg

    Grapefruit Seed Extract - 1 @ 125mg

    Vitamin D3 - 1 @ 2,500 LU

    Calcium Magnesium - 2 @ 2000mg (balanced mixture)

I will only eat raw foods/shakes (paleo) little to no sugar and a bulletproof coffee here and there.. I'll post an update at the end of the week on how I'm feeling and will add in some anti-fungal to the mix next monday. Fingers crossed.

Bad news I'm kinda ok but I have to move, I do have EB but its only effect now is that my body is severely affected by mold. I have valley fever, I live in a big spore city (Phoenix).

The problem with mold comes from the acetaldehydes they produce for people. Your body uses molybdenum to make the enzymes necessary to break these components down. I would suggest taking this http://www.pureformulas.com/molybdenum-500-mcg-60-capsules-by-pureformulas.html#sthash.DKnfeiYd.dpbs. I would also take a good B Vitamin Complex like the one by thorne research.

Sounds like you have crazy inflammation as a side effect too. Ebay- Meriva-SR (cheapest I found ) , Curcumin Phytosome which can cross the BBB. Should help fight the inflammation. EB is also yanking your cortisol and depleting magnesium like crazy so get some magnesium oil ( Ancient Minerals) and go for 1000mg daily. I would add an adaptogenic herb, you want the higher cortisol to help you cope and fight it. That makes me think, you should add B51500mg a day split, open capsule, 5 min prior to breakfast and lunch.

Everything I learned about "biohacking" has been baby steps to "circadian biology", that's where the real biohacking comes in. You can buy a bunch of cool shit to "hack" but if you don't have context, you're not winning. Paleo is just a brand now and too many have opinions, it's on you to read and reread the material to not only find truth but to connect the dots. Much love to everyone who has helped me on my journey for restoring my health, please keep in touch. Feel free to message me with health questions [email protected]

  • It kinda crazy I can't just goto a doctor and get answers.. after 10 years of being sick I guess I've learned alot (its all grist for the mill).

Anybody here about Low Dose Naldextrone for fatigue and even MS?

I've got EB too.  BHT seems like a very interesting approach to this problem.  Steve Fowkes has promoted its use.  Dave has mentioned Steve Fowkes a couple of times.  Fowkes has done a lot of work on BHT and why it works.

    See his website: www.projectwellbeing.com.

He also makes a short book on the uses of BHT available at: http://www.projectwellbeing.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/02/BHTbook-StevenWmFowkes-100903.pdf

Fowkes goes through why it works, where to get it, how to purify it, and how to use it.

EB is a herpes virus and similarly has a lipid shell which as WebMD describes describes how BHT breaks-down down this shell which kills off the virus.

I just got a bottle of BHT from Vitamin Research Products.

    Good luck.

  • Low Dose Naltrexone did the trick, my naturopath doctor got me on it and it has all but cured most of my symptoms the immediate difference was my glands in my neck became un-swollen (they have been for 10+ years). I'm sleeping like a rock, anxiety is gone and generally feeling great all around. The doctor also did full blood panel work and I came up null on any fungus anti-bodies but EBV was definitely showing up as the issue. Everything else was normal (thyroid etc etc).

If you interested in chatting about my success with it let me know.

  • Purely subjective at this point, but since starting BHT I've started exercising again and feel far more productive and clear headed.  Blood tests next month.  I'll report then.
