Bulletproof Coffee And Meditation

Hey All,

Is there a link between coffee or bulletproof coffee and meditation?

Would it hinder the calm and the trance like state of meditation since coffee has the stimulant effect due to caffeine?

Anyone have any experience in this area please share :)

Cheers!

  • If you're doing it right you should be both alert and calm during meditation, the coffee helps with alertness but don't overdo it and get totally wired

Caffeine inhibits alpha waves. Dave has mentioned somewhere on the site that meditation after drinking coffee isn't optimal.

dave has mentioned this but i've found if i do meditate for 15-20 minutes in the morning while drinking BPC it puts me in a better state of mind for the caffeine to enhance. BPC or no BPC, meditation is going to benefit you either way.

Thanks to the internet, health experts, and my unending curiosity, I have overcome: excessive sweating (adrenal fatigue), anxiety and panic attacks, extremely high estrogen levels (man boobs), chronic brain fog (yeast overgrowth), depression, and am currently battling SIBO (took it from being so bloated it felt like my stomach skin was going to rip, slept 2 hours per night for a week because of upset stomach and being chronically fatigued to very mild, manageable but still annoying symptoms) and currently battling sleep deprivation/insomnia probably due to the SIBO/Leaky Gut and resulting histamine intolerance.

  • True. Have you tried meditation + l theanine + bpc? You should theoretically get better results from it. I haven't tried it enough to verify it though.

How do you know if you are producing alpha brain waves? This takes a lot of sitting to get into this state....I meditate with a group twice a week and it has taken me close to a year to build the endurance to be able to sit for 1 hour. 1-2 20 minute sessions per day is usually what's recommended for people practicing transcendental meditation.

I drink 1 cup of the upgraded beans when I meditate in the morning and none before night sessions...I feel great in both situations...How are people here quantifying their meditation? What is so good about alpha brain waves? Quantifying meditation kind of seems contradictory to the way I practice at the studio...but that is just one way that I practice....I would love to see some data on my meditation.

  • In the book Deep Meditation the author says it is not ideal to meditate after any meal. This is because when you meditate your breathing, normal brain function, and metabolism all slow down, so when you eat right before your metabolism is trying to process the meal but is being slowed down by your meditation. Personally, I'm not even close to slowing down my metabolism, let alone clearing my mind, so I'm not too worried about having my BPC before meditation.
