Best Travel Mug?

Alright I love my bulletproof coffee but I like to drink it through the course of the morning and also like it hot. I am a huge fan of functionality and am always on the hunt for the perfect travel mug. I am currently using this 16oz travel mug from Contigo and theres a lot I like about it.

  1. Its vacuum sealed, and will keep "warm" for about 4 hours
  2. It auto seals
  3. It just looks awesome!

  • That mug looks great!  Which lid do you recommend?

I wish they made that mug in a larger capacity.

I enjoy coffee to much for only 16oz.

Here is my current mug http://www.amazon.com/bubba-52-mug-classic-black/dp/B003XFUKWM/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1374340976&sr=8-1&keywords=bubba+mug+52

Plus having a larger mug is nice because I can make and mix my BFC in one container with my immersion blender.

They do make one that's 20 ounces.

Don't know if it would work with your immersion blender.

  • Baba - I have the newer lid which I find is much easier to keep clean, there are some spring loaded pieces in the lid which keep the mug sealed (it seals really well btw, like well enough I can throw the thing upside down in my bag and it won't leak!) and that can make the lid hard to get oil and butter out of!

Hazakins - That is one serious mug! I can definitely say even the 20oz Contigo will not work with your immersion blender, when traveling I have to bring a small pitcher with me to use an immersion blender. So now my question is how long does that mug keep your coffee hot?

Usually it stays very hot for about 2 hours and a drinkable hot/warm for 2.5 more hours. especially if you keep the lid down but I don't.

It takes me from eight till about noon to finish 35-40 oz coffee.

  • I've been using a hydroflask  http://www.hydroflask.com  for a while and it's great for bpcoffee.  It holds its temp for a long time.  I got a 64oz wide mouth which is nice for its capacity.  I also got a 21oz narrow mouth which is much easier to drink out of and fits car cupholders.

  • I have the same exact one the OP posted.

    Nissan  Backpack Thermos.

Holds two cups, opens and closes with one hand, works SUPER well. I will put my coffee in it in the morning, and after work its still too hot to drink quickly.

yeah i like hydroflask too. i have the 40oz as my main water bottle, and sometimes for smoothies, and a 21-oz that i put my BPC in. 64 oz of coffee is a lot!

The perfect travel mug must retain heat, be easily shakeable without spilling and not change the flavor of my drink. Therefore, without question, the Bubba, CERAMIC lined, travel mug is the pinnacle of mugs yet created. Whether cold or hot, acidic or basic, the flavors never change and it stays hot for 3-5 hours in the car. (I have only found 1 defective lid upon purchase of many) While driving, these mugs allow me one handed shaking of my CoffGhee (w/BO and Collagen) before every drink without a drip.

Currently, there is a stainless version with a rubber sleeve and an all black rubber coated version available at Walmart, Amazon and elsewhere for around $20. I have 3 and have given them away to others because they are so perfectly made. My humble $.02.

Hopefully their patent will expire soon and Dave can reproduce the design with the Bulletproof logo on it or will at least create an Upgraded Mug w/Ceramic Lining.

Say no more. I've Bulletproofed the ultimate bulletproof travel mugs. 😀👍🏼
  • Amazon review comments for Bubba say that it has a leaky lid.

    Zojirushi is the bomb.

I have a 16 oz travel mug, can make coffee hot in the morning at 6am. If I leave it closed all morning and try to take a drink at noon, it's still scaldingly hot. I typically add two ice cubes after I make the coffee, it's still hot/enjoyable at noon.

The lid locks nicely so I can toss the mug anywhere and not worry about spilling.

I had a contigo a while back - probably an older model. It was great for a while, except those were my pre-blender for BPC days, so I just shook up the hot coffee + butter + mct in the contigo... until I blew out the seals and sprayed hot coffee all over the place.

I usually give my zojirushi a good shake before drinking, never had any problems with it. :)

  • BP-Ronin, 1 out of 5 that I purchased did have a dribble from the snap seal. I took it back and swapped it. All others are still working perfectly.

  • Thermos makes a great travel mug. The one I have does not have handles so it fits in my car holder. Its a silver color though they also have red, black and maybe stainless. It holds hot for 4hrs and cold for 8. I bought mine at Walmart for around $18. I had a Contigo but they spout does not adjust the flow well and I found myself burning my lips on occasion. The thermos has a top with a little toggle to open and close and its much more user friendly on your lips..
