hey guys so I've run out of MCT and just wanted to know if high quality coconut oil will work with my coffee,
Would you recommend it?
How does it taste?
When I first tried BPC, I didn't have MCT oil so I used Coconut Oil instead (Nutiva). My first time was highly memorable so I'd say that the Coconut oil works pretty well. Taste should be a non-issue.
As mentioned above. Just not as good as MCT oil, but better than nothing.
Dave said recently it's not a bulletproof coffee if it doesn't have MCT oil.
SUCCESS: A lot of little things done well
coconut oil has a very mild taste, the downsides to coconut oil vs mct = weaker?/less concentrated, and its solid <75(i wouldnt consume it solid/cold) for texture reasons/palatability--- the upside is iirc then coconut oil has more 6 chain acids vs the almost all 8 chain in MCT ( and 10 chain in the octane oil ) which have different benefits(all good)
so you may want to mix/match to specific uses ...ie cooking/coffee/taking straight. but if you can only have one i'd assume the choice would be clearly mct. cant comment on BP Coffee preferance.... i drink tea.... straight. t.t
I can never really taste it that much at all, even when I cook with it. Eaten a tiny bit straight and it's really got too much taste. I doubt you'll even notice it in the coffee compared to the MCT oil, which actually doesn't have any taste.
I use both MCT and Coconut oil in my BP coffee for the added taste. I also use up to 1/2 cup of coconut oil in my Whey shakes (chocolate flavor) as it adds to the taste in that as well.
I buy it by the gallon from Wilderness Family Naturals..
You tried coconut cream in you whey shakes?
Get mine for the supermarket here in the UK!
also use the milk...
beats my milk replacement for taste ;-)
Any fat that is on the green-end of the oils & fats-scale is fine to eat on the Bulletproof-diet.
You don't have to add any to coffee.
"Taste should be a non-issue." ??? Why bother getting un-salted butter then?
As mentioned above. Just not as good as MCT oil, but better than nothing. Dave said recently it's not a bulletproof coffee if it doesn't have MCT oil.
Does it matter what green-end fats someone uses as long as the quality is sufficient, such as Extra Virgin coconut oil, or organic cacao-butter?
