Tip: Traveling With Mct Oil

I found these small containers intended for beads at a local craft store:

They're leak-proof and stack nicely. Each fits about a tbsp of MCT oil, and because you can separate them into smaller stacks, it's easy to fit a bunch of them into your ziploc bag when going through airport security.

Thought I'd share the tip. image/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />

  • Good one. The small plastic soap containers work well too, like you might use for camping.
  • Be careful with those stacking bead jars. The ones I used to use for supplements had very little side to side strength. Stack more than 5 together and pack it and you're likely to have the middle two separate in your luggage.

I also stopped using them because I noticed that a number of the small plastic bags (marketed for storing beads) I had been storing supplements in were noted as not being food safe.
  • i've had a set of these and they leak! especially if you fill with fluids and they go into a pressurised environment (lower pressure than 'ground' level). Best for oil transport is a 300ml PET mineral water bottle with as much air squeezed out as possible before packing....

I just ordered these for my mct oil for carry on baggage. It says they are food safe and leak proof. I'll post update after I use them...

  • Here's the website for the GoToob . For some reason the above Amazon link isnt working properly.

UPDATE: I used them in my airplane carry-on bag filled with MCT oil. No Leaks! And they are super comfy and easy to use and clean.
  • I used a 16oz glass Kombucha bottle. Worked well image/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' /> This is for 2 weeks of travel. I have use the 3oz travel sized soap/shampoo containers in the past, but I'm not sure if they are really appropriate for food.

Any issues with taking a new unopen bottle of MCT oil in a ziplock bag?

I take it these containers are for already opened bottle or short trips.

  • don't put oil into anything plastic. Plastic chemicals leach out into the oil. They are strongly xeno-estrogenic, very toxic. Never put plastic and oil together. Sometimes I must buy oil in plastic bottles but I try to avoid it and will buy more expensive oil if it comes in glass bottles.

You can get a small stainless steel drinking bottle and use that instead. They don't leak. Might be hard to clean though soap and water should be fine.

Was putting the unopened MCT bottle in the plastic bag, not the oil!

    Just in case it leaked.

These are absolutely perfect for traveling with MCT Oil and they are cheap! The most expensive part is shipping. I ordered 5 of these so I can keep extra MCT's in my work bag, travel bag and some in my pantry so I can grab them on the go if I end up at a restaurant.

I also ordered a few of these for travel with Himalayan Pink Salt.

Lastly I ordered one of these to carry Upgraded Collagen Protein in... don't use this one as much but they are cheap so I don't feel bad spending the money. Sometimes I will carry one of these and mix it into Coconut Water after a workout.

  • nalgene covers all Your travel needs.....I would be nervous about checking in a full bottle of MCT and having it blow up....I guess if You Vacuum sealed it and froze it to be extra safe all good though

  • Thanks for this tip - i work as a flight attendant and i am certain this job is very detrimental to ones mind and body health - I just discovered Dave`s bulletproof stuff a few weeks ago, ordered some upgraded coffee and alpha brain and feel much better - next time I order I will include MCT as well, thanks to all

  • Would love an update about ideas to travel abroad with MCT. I love the small glass jar bottles, under 3 oz to keep in my purse, but would like to pack a larger container, since I'll be out of the country for 1-2 weeks. Wondering about what people think about a stainless steel water bottle? I'm not sure if it would leak or not.

  • I travel ALOT, carry your unopened MCT glass bottle in your check-in bag (it won't blow up), get some bubble wrap (used for packing) wrap the glass bottle and then use packing tape (the brown stuff for packaging parcels), wrap that all around the bubble wrapped bottle.....arrive at destination all in one piece.   If you don't use all your oil whilst away just do the same on your way back, BUT this time put the bottle in a ziplock bag, then bubble wrap then brown tape it - voila!!!

GREAT POINT! Since MCT oil comes in a plastic bottle - what are you doing, Matt? Are you pouring it into glass when you receive a new bottle?

  • The vials in the first link say 4 dram. I had to look it up - that translates to .25 oz, which is half a tablespoon. That seems like a pretty small container. Is that really the size or did I miscalculate?

  • I don't think there's any way to safely transport MCT anywhere. Even sitting on a shelf in my pantry, the oil finds its way all over the outside of the bottle. I searched the world thoroughly for a small container to carry olive oil to and from work to put on my salad and nothing is leakproof.

I think the GoToob is most promising... Will silicone react with oil? I'm not sure I can bring myself to spend $10 on a squeeze tube.

Stainless Steel Flask at the drug store. Boom.

  • 4 dram glass vials. Bought a dozen from an independent seller on ebay and had them on my door two days later for about $4.75. Hasn't leaked a bit so far.

  • I'm trying an old glass spice (turmeric) bottle first time next week in my carry on.

    Welcome Gaucho!

I will second the stainless steel flasks. Mine works like a charm for longer trips. Wouldn't take it to a restaurant, though. Strange sideways looks aren't bulletproof. Ha ha.

I use a Gotoob and I put it in the ziplock bag with toiletries.  I have never had TSA question it in 2 years

    now that's a good idea...

  • I spend most of my life travelling for work. I seem to have a solution now that works really well with no mess!

    I use these:

I keep them in a zip lock bag:

    http://www.muji.eu/pages/online.asp?Sec=18&Sub=73&PID=3564

    I also carry mct powder:

And a battery powered blender for bp coffee:

[Updated Version]Personal Blender, TopEsct Portable Juicer Cup / Electric Fruit Mixer / USB Juice Blender, Rechargeable, 380ml, Six Blades in 3D for Superb mixing https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B071H2CZV8/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_tai_Anu4zb821QRD4

PET plastics are meant to be food safe but who knows what to believe...
