What Brand Do You Buy For Your Copper Supplement?

I read through Dave's 10 essential nutrients post and I pretty much got everything on the list except copper, because it's almost impossible to find a life extension copper on amazon. I was wondering if you do supplement copper, which brand do you find to be good?

thanks

  • Just picked up a few bottles of Twinlab 2mg Copper 100 caps. $3.99 a bottle. I had a tough time finding copper as well. Not sure how "bulletproof" it is. Found it at Allstarhealth.com $5.95 shpping. Placed an order on Sunday; they shipped it on Monday; I had it Thursday. Shipped from California to Oregon. One thing I'm finding with the copper, I get a quick feeling of nausea and feel like I'm going to throw up (WebMD says these are common side effects). It doesn't even last a minute and it's gone. Taking the copper with my BP Coffee on an empty stomach. I've only been taking it for 5 days so I'm hoping the feeling will stop.

    Good luck!
  • I used to shop at Super Supplements when I was in Portland:

I bought that brand also before I found this study saying that copper gluconate isn't absorbed. Does anyone know of any studies showing which form of copper gluconate is the best absorbed copper form?

    http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/2931973

"A double-blind study was done giving 10 mg of copper/day as copper gluconate or placebo capsules for 12 wk. The seven subjects receiving copper gluconate had no change in the level of copper in the serum, urine, or hair. There was also no change in the levels of zinc or magnesium. There was also no significant change in levels of hematocrit, triglyceride, SGOT, GGT, LDH, cholesterol, or alkaline phosphatase. The side effects of nausea, diarrhea, and heartburn were the same in the subjects receiving copper gluconate and subjects receiving placebo capsules."

This is what I use, it has zinc as well in the right proportion that is suggested for copper. Taking copper without zinc is unhealthy I hear, can't remember why.
