Magnesium Glycinate Safe For Daily(Nightly) Use?

An alarming thread about the possible negative effects of both GABA and glycine.

Althought it seems anecdotal I was wondering if anyone else might comment.

I've started taking Magnesium glycinate on a daily basis before bed to improve sleep. Should I be taking another form? What form does Dave take?

Glycine would cause none of the issues the person mentioned unless they had a genetic abnormality to process it AKA glycine metabolic disorder (Glycine encephalopathy.)

He would not develop mental decline he would have been born handicapped.

Thanks. Do you think Magnesium taurate would be a better choice for relaxation? Do you know which form Dave uses?

Was thinking about getting this NaturalStacks product which combines L-Threonate, Glycinate and Taurate

but the dosages seem a bit high to me.

i think the recommended dose is 800mg per day of elemental magnesium. (somebody can verify this?)

this supplement is a stack of three types. when the magnesium is isolated, youre left with the elemental magnesium.

I have a magnesium l- threonate supplement that says its 2000mg of magtein(l-threonate) with 144 mg of magnesium.

if thats correct then the Magtech supplement has 72mg of magnesium.

with the remaining 128 mg from the other two magnesium compounds.

apparently they have different levels of bio availability.

as long as your kidney function is ok, you shouldnt have a problem with an overdose.

you'd really have to pound the pills back to do that. of all the supplements i've taken it's the largest volume supplement.

I sent this supplement as well as a number of others from Dave's top 10 to my mom.

the plan is to add them in one at a time. this is the first one and she seems to like it.

Fixer is some what correct in his dosage. A better guide is 200 - 400 mg per 50 pounds of body weight as long as kidney function is adequate.

He is correct about elemental magnesium and it is unknown the true bio-availability based on gut health and absorption which differs between everyone.

that's interesting. the l-threonate I took for over a month and I didnt really notice too much in a positive way that I could attribute to it. at times waking up seemed to be a bit more difficult.

I switched to glycinate last week and waking up has a been easier, maybe back to pre-supplement level. now i'm curious to see how the magtech treats me compared to my mom and the last two supplements. also perhaps decrease my moms dosage hehe.
