I was a kick boxer (never competitive; just sparring) and towards the end of the summer of 2012, I suffered a head kick that gave me a concussion. I never lost consciousness (or was even knocked down for that matter). I wasn't aware I was concussed so I continued the sparring for the day. When I went home I started getting the symptoms before bed. I went to the doctor and was told I had a concussion and to rest. I took time off kickboxing until Jan 2013. I got back into the flow of things while avoiding sparring for about a month. I returned to a sparring session and suffered no significant blows to the head (just small taps with boxing gloves) and the next couple days my symptoms returned.
A couple months ago I had an MRI which came back completely fine; however even to this day, I am experiencing aggravating post-concussive symptoms. I cannot exercise at all (anything that results in me breaking a sweat at all results in dizziness, nausea and just general feeling of unwellness). I tend to be a pretty active person so this lack of being able to do any training is really taking a toll on my happiness. While I probably won't return to fighting as I do value my cognitive function; I would really love to return to lifting and hitting the heavy bag. I have been doing yoga as a means to feel like I am doing something physical.
Has anyone encountered such long lasting post concussive symptoms before? Is there any bullet proof method I could go about to speed up my recovery?
