Probiotic For 2 Year Old?

I have some probiotic that is from 3 years.

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Garden-Life-Primal-Defense-Kids/dp/B000QUKZAE/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1383137050&sr=8-1&keywords=primal+defense+kids

My older son is 4 and he gets that one.

What van happen if a 2 year old was to eat this one for 3 and older?

Does the gut or gutflora differ that much from 2-3 years old?

any tip for a good probiotic for 2 year old is also appreciated.

The older boy on probiotic does not get sick nearly as much the younger who does not get it.

Hope to hack that :)

To raise a bit of curiosity why doesn't the Primal Defense Kids use HSO like Bacilius Subtilius in the probiotic? Why?

Because Bacilus Subtilus is evil thats why. Even Garden of Life is smart enough not to use it in the kids probiotic. If our kids don't take it why should you?

The probiotic you are using is perfectly fine for the two year old. I use to give it to my one year old when he had constipation. Don't give larger than 1/4 of a teaspoon a toddler or infant should receive no more than 10 billion CFU's a day.

  • thank you John :) much appreciated.

    Will get right on it..

  • John, what else did you do for your son's constipation? My 2 year old is having some issues.
  • Madi, some great things to try are the natural calm drinks at bed (its magnesium) and it can help with BM's. Also, try giving him prunes or dried figs(I found some amazing organic, non gmo ones and they taste amazing) with supper and make sure he is drinking enough water. It could also mean that, assuming that he is eating BP as well, that his is getting to much protein and not enough veggies, especially fibrous ones. Play with portions and remember to follow serving size guidelines for kiddos too....just kid sized portions. So, 6-11 veg, 4-6 protein, 5-9 fat/dairy/nuts, 1 starch/fruit .. although I usually bump my almost 4 year olds starch to 2 every night so that she sleeps better.

maybe its a gut thing and you should look at getting some really good quality, first milking colostrum as well

  • Neutney,

Thanks for all the suggestions. I do have trouble getting enough veggies in him. We're mostly bp. I worry that it is a gut thing b/c I only removed gluten from his diet a couple of months ago. It changed his mood of the better. What form is the form of colostrum? I haven't heard too much about that. Thanks!

    Hi madi

colostrum is an amazing tool to help heal both in children and adults. It comes in a powder or capsule but is best absorbed in when you mix it in a bit of something and take it that way. Here in Canada, our cows cannot be totally grass fed, so getting a really superb product from grass fed cows is difficult. If you are in the USA, do some research about andrew keech. He has developed the best process for creating colostrum there is(like biohacking the system for cows). I think his medical website for sale of colostrum is www.numedica.com. I think if you cannot find his product, the two most important things to look for are that the product is from first milking only and then that its low heat processed with as little pasteurization as possible. you can also order an advanced gs support system from thedr.com and it has the protien spray(very important) as well as the colostrum.

here is the technical website for research on andrew....
