Upgraded Whey Smell?

I've got some upgraded whey that has been stored at room temperature since december. I'm guessing that should be fine right? Now, the smell has me a bit concerned, it smells a bit bad. I don't know how to describe the smell but it smells a bit funky. Is this the way it usually smells? The taste seems fine to me, milky (which I can feel a bit in the smell too), with a tiny bit of that funkiness.

And does anyone know of the expiration date of upgraded whey?
