My Body Is Ineffective At Using Glucose?

If I come out of ketosis I suffer from extreme fatigue/depression, almost like my body is unable to convert the carbs/sugars into glucose.

Being in ketosis fixes this problem, ofcourse. But i'm trying to understand better what's going on in my body.

Is this a sign of diabetes?  :???:

  • I don't know, but that's interesting.  Have you thought of getting a glucose/ketone meter and testing your blood glucose?  You might try testing first thing in the morning, just before a meal, and then about 90 minutes after a meal.  Testing your blood sugar could give you some clues.

I don't know what would be the downside if you were metabolically inflexible toward fat metabolism.  If there is a downside.

  • As Marielle said, you need to check blood glucose. If it is low or high when you eat carbs is important to understand.

I would guess it is no problem for you to digest carbs to glucose (your stomach would be very bad otherwise) but the issue is that glucose cannot enter your cells.

More than likely this is a sign of adrenal fatigue instead of pure diabetes. Buy a A1C test from walmart for less then $10 in the diabetic section, to see if you are diabetic if you are that worried.

  • I wonder if you might have some kind a allergy or intolerance to the specific carbs you eat to take you out of ketosis.  You might have some extreme sensitivity to mold or mycotoxins.

    Tell what carbs you use.

  • You're likely to have a gut flora problem. Colonocytes which are specialized cells that line the colon prefer butyrate as a fuel but will use glucose if none is available which can cause disturbances in your blood glucose control. To produce butyrate your body needs clostridial species and resistant starch.
